Born Again- Cover and Feature Editorial for W25

When I got the magazine in the mail and saw the image staring out at me from the front page, can you imagine how ecstatic I was? The shoot itself took a year from planning to completion. I would wake up at night to jot down details and when we finally shot it, what a breathe of freedom! Here’s a look at the editorial and behind the scenes with the gorgeous Anke Hansen who delivered brilliant hair and makeup, with fantastic models Amberlie and Monika from Chadwick.

Anke handmade and styled all the hair from scratch. This woman is so absolutely phenomenal and such a perfectionist, it’s great working with an artist of such capability. I also had the immense pleasure of speaking with the bookers at Chadwick and shooting two wonderful young ladies who are professional and beautiful and rose to the occasion while I waved my arms around describing the concept. We shot over two days and here are the results:

Currently in the midst of planning some major editorials, definitely looking forward ot them! ;)

Double the fun

Last September I had a weekend packed full of gorgeous models from Scene. Both beauty stories have since been published on Pulp Magazine, mighty happy with that!

Day 1 started bright and early with the arrival of Sarah Baxter (my darling makeup and hair artist), Airdrie Makim (designer of fabulous jewelery turn stylist) and models Jaimee and Laura, fresh and lovely and gorgeous. We were embarking on a story focusing on sunglasses and Airdrie brought by some utterly stunning pieces from Morrisey and Flint. I loved how naturally the girls moved including to directions such as ‘pretend you’re a new yorker’,  ‘you’re too cool for school’, ‘roar like a lion’. Sarah rose to the challenge of creating all the hairstyles herself as well as flawless makeup, love this girl!

Looking chic ?

Day 2. Our team for the day was Sarah (makeup), Adlena Dingnam (hair) and twins Tierney and Maddison with quintessential long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I was so excited to be shooting twins, and mixing up names! My lesson of the day was watching how absolutely professional dear Adlena was, who despite being sick and in pain, still showed up and rocked a full day shoot. She is so utterly lovely and I believe currently blazing through London, you lucky British people! This time the focus was on nude colour palette and clean looks with stylistic hair.

First publication

With all my latest shoots and prepping for submissions, I didn’t realize I actually received my first publication and tearsheets. What a completely (forgotten) surprise! It’s a little article (text and photos) on the 13th Nec Go Cup for the Australian Go Journal, of which I’m now the Melbourne correspondent for. So while it’s isn’t fashion and beauty, it’s still quite exciting and involves the other occupation of my life- go.
Go is an ancient Chinese board game played with white and black stones. It’s quite simple to learn but challenging to master, and quite beautiful once you start understanding the intricate complexity of the moves. I started playing about 6 years ago and have been involved in one of the local and more active clubs the past four years. This year (this weekend actually) we’re hosting the Australian National Go Tournament, so yes I’m covering the photography aspect again.
One of the Journal editors brought in copies and I get one. Happy.
