Last year saw some amazing sets of gorgeously embellished designs and structured looks. 2011 marks a bit in the shift to much more wearable couture with an emphasis on delicate designs and feminine forms. Here’s a look into what has been gracing the runways.
Elie Saab returns with his ever delightful presentations of flowing gowns for the woman who is both strong and stunning. The dusky tea rose pink and spring palette are a particular favorite, in fact I would be beaming with any of the dresses in my wardrobe.
Givenchy takes on an Asiatic twist with careful attention to garment construction where origami folds are a highlight and theme of the collection. One of the more interesting trends guiding designers, I hope to see it leak down to pret-a-porter collections in 2012.
A blend of British rock chic and fiery looks walked the stage at Jean Paul Gaultier’s show. The bold patterns and androgynous looks are on trend for this year and fittingly our own locally signed Andrej Pejic, rising male model closes the show in a tulle enclosed wedding dress.
Valentino is another inspired by spring flowers, playing up sensuality with sheer organza and ruffles. Most of the collection rests in subtle shades of ivory, pink and nude with long silhouettes and airy fabrics.

I am keen to watch what else would come out on the runways but so far so good! By the way has anyone else noticed the black swan motif? 😉
